  • US President Donald Trump’s disruptive and unpredictable foreign policy agenda has added to the uncertainties in the Middle East at a time of change.

  • This is increasingly forcing Arab states to take matters into their own hands, whether by helping stabilize Syria or responding to Trump’s Gaza plan.

  • But for Mideast Gulf heavyweights, the disorder also creates opportunities, including to position themselves as intermediaries.
