Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government said that it has no plans to extend the lifetime of the island's last operating nuclear power plant, which is set to retire after 40 years of service on May 17, despite newly enacted opposition legislation making it easier to keep nuclear plants on line.
