About Julien JULIEN MATHONNIERE is the Energy Markets Economist for ʶԳ. He is part of the Research & Advisory unit, which provides clients with forward-looking analysis on oil and gas and LNG markets; the energy transition; corporate strategy; and above-ground risk.Julien is a trained petroleum economist with a strong background in energy finance and leads the macroeconomic practice area for Research & Advisory. His areas of expertise include macroeconomic forecasting, oil and product market fundamentals, and pricing mechanisms and benchmarks. Julien is a subject matter expert for ʶԳ’s Energy Executive Development Program, and he regularly speaks at international conferences and advises clients — Including the UK Cabinet Office — on energy and macroeconomic issues.Before joining ʶԳ, Julien held editorial roles at several energy consultancies, including IHS (now S&P Global) and the ICIS price reporting agency. He was also previously involved in crude oil and refining training for non-specialist stakeholders.Julien holds a Master of Science in Petroleum, Energy Economics and Finance from the University of Aberdeen.
