Swiss airborne wind power pioneer Twingtec is targeting start up of commercial operations by end-2024 or early 2025, co-founder Dino Costa tells ʶԳ. Airborne wind power systems like wind kites and Twingtec’s tethered drone energy project are yet to be commercially deployed, but typically claim major reductions on space and material use, in addition to being able to seek out higher winds at different altitudes and thus optimize generation. Their potential has attracted some modest interest from supermajors like Royal Dutch Shell.
