Supportive comments and policy moves by the Trump administration in the past few weeks signal a clearer path forward for the CCS sector, which has been dogged by uncertainty in recent months. While concerns remain over the fate of tax incentives that underpin the nascent CCS sector in the US, key officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump touted support for the sector at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday. The administration has also been making concrete moves in favor of CCS, both when it comes to moving the processing of carbon storage permits to the state level (which is faster) and allowing access to federal offshore acreage for storage.
