June gas futures shot 20.3¢ higher Friday to $3.795 per million Btu amid expectations of hot summer temperatures. “Medium-term forecasts from the National Weather Service project a significant increase in cooling degree days, set to rank as some of the highest temperatures to be seen for the same period as far back as the 1950s,” Gelber & Associates said. “Looking forward, a hot start to the summer in May as is currently projected easily adds demand that will be felt throughout the injection season.”
