COP28: Carbon Markets Advancing Behind the Scenes

Carbon markets are not as prominent at COP28 as previous climate summits, with formal carbon market negotiations moving at a relatively technical level “and less political than they were maybe two, three years ago, when carbon markets were very high on the political agenda,” according to Gilles Dufrasne from Carbon Market Watch, an NGO. However, the question of offsetting remains central to many discussions running alongside the official negotiations, he told ʶԳ in an interview just before COP28's launch.
