Green hydrogen projects in Europe are not getting built at the scale and pace many industry torchbearers expected to see. Overcoming the "hype" seen in recent years is a new theme, with developers and investors now talking of pragmatism and targeted deployment. Many early proponents in the oil and gas sector have refined and shrunk green hydrogen plans and targets. But projects are getting built — so the task now is to find commonality. Can lessons and themes be garnered from projects that have reached the final investment decision (FID) stage? Is there a copycat template others can replicate — or do the economics only work on a site-specific basis?
