France is trying to attract data centers to increase demand and is already the EU’s biggest electricity exporter, but its grid operator is warning of tensions from oversupply and is having to increasingly curtail renewable and nuclear generation in the near term. France's example illustrates the possible tension created when grid decarbonization and clean energy build-out outpaces electrification, a situation that could be repeated in the near term in other European countries.
