All the uranium miners and juniors present in the West African country have faced challenges in developing or operating their mines since a July 2023 military coup brought into power a government heavily focused on extracting maximum local benefit from the country鈥檚 natural resources. But France's Orano, the only company that had been actually producing uranium in Niger at the time of the coup, has been particularly hard-hit.
