The US is moving to impose steep tariffs on imports of solar panels from Southeast Asia following an investigation into alleged price-dumping backed by China. The US Department of Commerce said the proposed duties will target "crystalline photovoltaic cells whether or not assembled into modules (solar cells)" from companies in Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The proposed tariff rates vary for each country and company, ranging from just north of 40% for Chinese manufacturer Jinko Solar's exports from Malaysia to more than 3,500% for certain firms in Cambodia.
